Inclusivity is the watchword of the day. As a world, we are becoming more sensitised to what others go through and are actively doing all we can to change the status quo. Whether it’s a growing awareness regarding what is appropriate language to marching for rights, society is transcending what has been, hitherto, considered the norm. From gender equality to Pride to Black Lives Matter to accessibility for disabled people, the world is slowly becoming one that is more egalitarian. And Gen Z is at the forefront of this revolution.

Now, with the Metaverse all set to launch us into a virtual world, complete inclusivity may be closer than ever. This may also help companies take responsibility to structure the Metaverse as a world where nobody is left behind.

Making the Metaverse more Inclusive

The Metaverse, by definition, is a virtual world where one can exist as an avatar. The very concept screams inclusivity, where you can customize your avatar to reflect exactly who you are. Especially for people who feel like they cannot be themselves, this feature may allow for unbridled expression.

People with disabilities, too, may be more included in social life and everything else the Metaverse brings. For instance, one could play a Metaverse cricket game when it may not be in the realm of possibility in the real world! Education and work, too, may become more accessible when commuting is eliminated from the picture.

The Road Ahead

While the Metaverse holds all the potential for inclusivity, companies that develop it, too, must be mindful that they harness the scope. With Gen Z having more purchasing power, it is also a solid business strategy to be more inclusive. Perhaps it will be the Metaverse, therefore, that creates utopia.
